What is digital fingerprinting?

Digital fingerprinting is the electronic capture of your fingerprints using a Live-Scan scanner. The prints are submitted directly to the RCMP to obtain a Canadian Criminal Record Check, without the need for ink.

How long does fingerprinting take?

The fingerprinting process at our Cambridge office typically takes under 15 minutes. Results from the RCMP may take 2–5 business days depending on the type of check requested.

What is the difference between FD-258 and C216-C fingerprint cards?

The FD-258 / FD-1164 is the FBI standard form used to obtain a Police Certificate from the United States. The C216-C is the RCMP-certified form used for police clearance in all other countries. Some countries require their own specific card — ask us about our ink-and-roll service.

Do you offer international fingerprinting services?

Yes. AFASC assists individuals living outside Canada in obtaining their Canadian Criminal Background Check remotely. We also offer apostille authentication for documents that need to be verified for use in foreign countries.
